: French entrepreneur Olivia Gurdjian, one of the two Bubble-Mood creators, is based in Shanghai.

: A Japanese kimono is used as a base in this Bubble-Mood creation called Allure. The new Bubble-Mood collection comes out mid-February.

Bubble-Mood is a new Shanghai-based fashion brand created by 3 young Parisian entrepreneurs in 2009. Olivia Gurdjian, one of the 3 creators of the company arrived in China in 2006 after media studies at the Sorbonne in Paris. She quickly realised that Shanghai was the perfect place to start a fashion business. With her business partner Margaux Painvin and her husband Lucas Gurdjian, the trio created Bubble-Mood which is now attracting an increasing amount of attention from fashionistas. In the following interview Olivia tells Nicely Made in China (NMiC) how it all started.

Spring is here! And at Nicely Made in China (NMiC) it’s around this time of year that we get itchy feet! A trip, be it on horseback in far flung lands or a stay at auntie’s beach bungalow, needs careful preparation: tickets have to be booked and the right clothes have to be packed. We spoke to NMiC’s partner Serge Pierrard, CEO of Beijing-based Travel Stone (travel agency specialised in the Far-East and China) about the dos and don’ts for a memorable trip.

Chinese sneakers are making a remarkable come back on the world fashion scene with a few historical brands competing for attention. Shulong is not a historical brand but its shoes come from a long tradition of shoe making. The company has been on the market for only 3 years and Nicely Made in China wanted to know more about it. Surfing the internet recently in search of new ideas, Nicely Made in China (NMiC) came upon a beautifully elegant tea set. We managed to track down the designers, and were delighted to discover they produce a whole host of other desirable well-designed items.

This week Nicely Made in China is happy to introduce Lyndon Neri and Rossana Hu, architects and designers. Lyndon was born in the Philippines and educated in the US – a Harvard graduate. Rossana comes from Taiwan and is a Princeton graduate. The couple who now works for prestigious design companies like bd barcelona, moooi, meritalia and swarovski give NMiC readers an insight into what China has in store in the coming years with regard to design and architecture. If you live in Beijing or Shanghai you may have noticed a couple of small shops, one tucked away in leafy Sanlitun (Beijing), the other in the trendy Fuxing Lu (Shanghai) with an attractive and strange name: Rouge Baiser followed by the name Elise. Nicely Made in China decided to investigate and met with the French owner, Elise de Saint Guilhem, to talk embroidery, mixing colors and the differences -or the lack of- between Chinese and Western clients. They run their own company Design MVW based in Shanghai.
